To get to our natural jewel in Tyrol, the Natureispalast, you go to a side valley of the Zillertal, Tux. Arrived in Hintertux at the cable car station of the Hintertuxer Gletscherbahn (Hintertux 794, 6393 Tux, free parking) you buy the tickets for the ascent & descent to the "Gefrorene Wand".
Then you go up with the three cable cars ("Gletscherbus 1, 2 and 3") to 3,250 m with probably the most spectacular cable car in the Alps. It is also the highest two-cable ropeway in the world. It takes about 45 minutes to get from the bottom station to the top station "Gletscherbus 3". You overcome 1,750 meters of altitude with an unimaginable view of the surrounding mountains of the Zillertal Alps.
Leaving the cable car station "Gletscherbus 3" you will see our office directly on the left side. Our office is the starting point for all our tours and the registration takes place here. The entrance to the wonderful world of ice is about 200 m away from the office. We walk this path as part of the tour.
The lifts that are currently in operation on the Hintertux glacier can be found here: https://www.hintertuxergletscher.at/en/
Attention: At 3.250 m, there is no toilet and no restaurant. Please use the toilet facilities at one of the two intermediate stations (Sommerberg or Tuxer Ferner Haus) when going up.
If you have time before or after the tour, you can enjoy the view from the panoramic terrace. On clear days you can see all the way to the Zugspitze and you have a breathtaking distant view over the highest mountains in the area.
