On our tours you explore a wonderful world of ice at the heart of the glacier. Visitors walk through winding corridors connecting large scale cavities 35 meters below the ski slope. Meterlong icicles, sparkling ice crystals, frozen waterfalls, the deepest research shaft in a glacier worldwide and an ice lake, 35 meters below the ski slope, can be marveled at! The 6 m tall Tux Giant, a well-known mythical figure carved by the sculptor Leonhard Tipotsch, delights especially the little visitors.
Our guides speak German, English, Czech, Polish and Croatian.
In July and August, at Christmas/New Year's Eve, Easter, holidays and extended weekends, most guests visit the Nature Ice Palace. Accordingly, the groups can be larger during these periods. It is also recommended to visit the Nature Ice Palace in the morning at 10:30 or in the afternoon at 14:30. The Nature Ice Palace is usually most crowded during lunchtime.
Maintaining the operation of the Nature Ice Palace requires a lot of physical work, because the inside of the glacier needs daily maintenance.
The glacier is exposed to a wide variety of the most extreme weather conditions. After heavy snowfalls, hours of work are required to find and uncover the entrance to the Nature Ice Palace.
